" When we decided to create the MC-1, we laid out a very precise set of specifications.
I wanted a mic with a neutral response, without the bump typical of the most common vocal mics, which help certain voices but make others excessively rigid, including that of my favourite singer.
I also sought a response as similar as possible to a static mic, but without the latter’s unpleasant reaction to shrill, whistle-like tones.
I needed a mic with a subtle proximity effect and a relatively loose directionality, giving the singer more freedom of movement in front of the mic, a bit like in the studio.
