Musician - Double bassist - Composer
There's no doubt about it. The Lanen BL21 has moved to the top of my list.
What a wonderful sound quality for my double bass and what an excellent price!
Bassist - Director - Arranger
When I choose a mic, the most important aspect for me is obviously the sound quality. Next is the mounting. This has to be reliable all the time
Ludovic Lanen asked me to be involved in the development of this new mic and what I'd like to do now is to pass on my satisfaction with the result.
The acoustics and the attachment method for the double bass are going to make this mic one of the new audio standard setters for double bass mics.
Now when I record my double bass, I always opt for the new Prodipe BL21 Double Bass instrument mic.
Prodipe have remained true to their reputation and their commitment.
The sound in the recording is perfect and I can feel the harmonic warmth of my double bass. There's also a very easy to use and ingenious mounting system.
Of all the components in a mic, the one that has to be infallible is the capsule. For the new Prodipe instrument mic range we have perfected an electret capsule here in France which can handle up to 140dB. And with this level of performance, our mic will preserve the full harmonic envelope and warmth of your instrument.
I have called upon only the best musicians to test the mic systems: Patrick Bourgoin for the saxophone, Yvon Guillard for the trumpet, Claude Salmiéri for percussion of course, Clément Garcin for the guitar and ukulele, Jean-Claude Auclin for the cello and Gérard Prévost for the double bass.
Our inspiration for developing the capsule has been the most reputed mics in the field. We have constantly compared the performance of our mics with DPA's.
Each of the 21 Series mic systems is priced at 109 euros. But don't let the price be the deciding factor. Buy the mic for its pro quality, because that's our objective: to make pro quality available to everyone.
And with this new range, Prodipe have done it again. They just can't stop making their mark on the world of pro audio.
With Prodipe's brand new BL21 double bass mic, the sound of my double bass is rendered as acoustically as possible, both with the bow and pizzicato.
The mic is so easy to attach, and I have complete freedom of movement when I play, either live or in the studio.
It strikes me that plenty of my fellow double bassists should use the BL21 - it's excellent value for money.
When it's connected to Prodipe's CAB100 or 200 speakers, the amplification is close to HiFi quality, the sound is sufficiently powerful and the system adapts to any context.
Until now, I had not found a proximity microphone that gives me complete satisfaction and in particular, the feeling of having a sound recording with "air", something which seemed essential to me. I only found this quality in the studio, with high-end microphones placed a few dozen cm from my instrument.
With this microphone BL21, the feeling of "space" is clearly there. The sound of my instrument is perfectly reproduced, ample, stamped, precise, without the cold and surgical side of other microphones of this type.
A big thank you to the entire Prodipe technical team for having succeeded in bringing together all these major qualities for an instrumentalist.
Double bassist - Composer
I have been using the Prodipe BL21 microphone for a few months and derive a lot of satisfaction from it: faithful to the sound of my double bass, warm, straight and faithfully reproducing the acoustic sound,
I use it constantly, whatever the context, sometimes using the sound of my Liégeois cell in addition.
