Biography

Nicolas Fiszman started guitar at the age of 6 and studied the Ragtime-folk guitar with the Belgian guitarist Benjamin Bertrand.

He began studying 'modern jazz guitar' at the age of 11 with jazz guitarist Philip Catherine. A great friendship and frequent collaborations ensued.

He turned to electric bass at the age of 13 and started playing with several groups and artists: Ph. Catherine, L. Corryel, the Belgian group 'Cos', he began the beginning of a long collaboration with the singer Maurane ...

At 16, he joined the quartet of French guitarist Christian Escoudé.

A year later, the recording of the album “End of August” followed by a tour of almost two years with the quartet of Ph. Catherine, alongside the American saxophonist Charlie Mariano & the Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu.

Thanks to the support of Marc Moulin (among others) he started his career as a studio musician at 15 and has taken part in countless recordings since.

At the age of 20, he joined the group Pili Pili of the Dutch pianist Jasper van't Hof alongside the singer Angélique Kidjo and started at the same time a career as an album producer: Viktor Lazlo - Isabelle Antena - Jasper van 't hof's pili pili - David Linx - Maurane - Marka - Geoffrey Oryema - Philippe Lafontaine - Harlem Gospel Choir - Cheb Mami - Johnny Clegg - Henri Salvador - Alex Beaupain ...Composer, arranger and producer of the albums of the Burundian artist Khadja Nin. Composed film scores alongside Eric Serra for MGM film productions such as "Rollerball" and "Bullet proof monk".

As well as a few participations in film music for Bollywood with the Indian composer Ranjit Barot.

Nicolas has also worked both live and in studio with artists such as: Didier Lockwood - Alphonse Mouzon - Jacques Higelin - Alain Bashung - Dissidenten - Raoul Petite - HF Thiefaine - Luca Carboni - Zazie - Trilok Gurtu - Rupert Hine - James Ingram - Johnny Halliday - Patricia Kaas - Manu Katché - Joe Zawinul - Salvatore Adamo - Sting - Keren Ann - Metro (Chuck Loeb, Mitch Forman, Wolfgang Haffner) - Charles Aznavour - Isabelle Boulay - Zachary Richard - Julio Iglesias, Vanessa Paradis or even Francis Cabrel to name a few. Close collaborator of Benjamin Biolay since 2003.

Since 2005, has recorded and toured all over the world with the project of the English guitarist Dominic Miller (Sting).

Nicolas Fiszman is currently traveling across Europe with the Dominic Miller Group and the Absinthe Tour 2020.
