“R&D” was conducted in France by the PRODIPE team under the guidance of Ludovic Lanen with the active collaboration of talented saxophonist Patrick Bourgoin.
Ludovic Lanen tells us :
"To develop the capsule, we found inspiration in the best in the category and constantly measured our work against DPA's mics.
We developed an electret capsule capable of handling up to 140dB, able to capture all the dynamism and nuance of your playing, with a very high maximum sound level. Its strong linearity will perfectly preserve the timbre and sound of your instrument.
Particular attention was given to the system of fastening the mic to the instrument: we saw what was out there, asked for musicians’ opinions, and combined the best ideas. The result: the combination of a fixed stem with a flexible part permits a broad margin for adjustments and better stability, the suspension provides good key noise isolation and the clamp was specifically adapted to the shape of the bell.
The SB21 Lanen is available at €129 taxes included!
But again, don’t rely on its price alone, we’re pursuing our goal of bringing professional quality within everyone’s reach. With this new range, Prodipe continues to make its mark in the world of professional audio."
This mic can also be used in a UHF version: connect it to the Prodipe UHF DSP B210 Solo or UHF DSP B210 Duo systems (specially adapted to the 21 Lanen capsule’s impedance)
Patrick Bourgoin tells us:
Saxophonist • France
" Prodipe and its R&D team set themselves a goal: creating a proximity mic that can be fastened to instruments like the saxophone, trumpet, and trombone, as well as to various percussion instruments, and, at long last, at an affordable price.
First there's the capsule, the heart and soul of this remarkable mic. The result: 140db! For a price four times cheaper than the category’s leading models, musicians can count on exceptional sound reproduction. So why pay more?
And then there’s the clamp, which makes it easy to fasten. With Ludovic Lanen, we were particularly interested in creating a functional, flawless attachment system. I’m happy to participate in this adventure, knowing that Prodipe is constantly moving forward, equipped not only with the know-how but also the means to achieve its ambitions . . .
When the evidence is right before your eyes, why wait? And it’s only the beginning! For my mics, I choose Prodipe.
Thanks, Prodipe: high standards and excellence within everyone’s reach."

" I’ve been using Prodipe for several years now because I know how much attention they pay to the manufacturing side.
After testing the new SB21 Lanen instrument mic, I decided to use it myself.
It gives me the natural sound of my instrument, a capsule that can handle the high pressure levels associated with the trumpet, and an ingenious clamp that is very effective for positioning the mic. "
Saxophonist and Composer • France
" I use the SB21, a stage mic that offers an extremely accurate and stable acoustic reproduction, its versatility is sure to win over many a musician. My thanks to Ludovic Lanen and the entire Prodipe team for this extremely high-quality range of mics. "
Trumpeter • Italy
" For years I’ve been using a whole range of clip-on mics for trumpet and bugle, but I’ve never been entirely satisfied with the result.
After all these years of searching, thanks to my friend, drummer Louis Atzori, I discovered the Prodipe SB21 Lanen and I’ve fallen in love with the consistency and quality of the sound, which preserves its original purity and whose technology is far more effective at reducing valve noise than other mics.
The SB21’s sound is fantastic and I recommend it to all my colleagues, professionals or otherwise. My sound doesn’t get distorted and I can finally hear it for what it is.
Thanks so much to Prodipe’s technicians for creating this excellent microphone."
